On Grid is seeking a Control Room Operator with a New Jersey Gold Seal License for a 3-4 month project in Rahway, New Jersey.


The candidate is responsible for monitoring and control of all plant systems. This position will respond to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions and execute approved plant shutdown and start-up procedures, and assure that the plant meets it’s operational, environmental and safety commitments. The Control Room Operator CRO provides guidance to Crane and Auxiliary Operators to maintain safe and efficient operation. DCS - Citect controls.


· Must have a positive attitude and strong mechanical aptitude

· Must be able to multitask, stay organized, detailed and focused and show a high level of initiative

· Ability to identify and then implement process and productivity improvements.

· Ability to complete paperwork in English accurately and completely, understand the importance of detail and accuracy

· Ability to work in and promote a teamwork environment.

· Ability to communicate effectively to team members and management.

· Must have a desire to learn, grow and take on additional responsibilities

· Must be able to learn quickly, retain knowledge and follow instructions.

· Other duties as assigned by supervisor


· Minimum 5 years of boiler operations experience

· Knowledge of and experience working with hazardous materials

· Hazardous Materials Handling and Shipping Hazmat

· Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical motor skills.

· Basic knowledge of water chemistry.


This list is an outline of day to day functions of the Boiler Operator but the job is not limited to these functions.

· Ensure strict adherence to all safety procedures and regulations.

· Ensure compliance to all quality practices.

· Shutting down the Steam Operations Process in the event of an emergency

· Assisting the other Plant Operators as needed

· Works with the facility operations team on process and operations to identify needs to maximize capacity utilization

· Learning, observing, and following all department safety and housekeeping rules, regulations, and practices

· Reporting all hazards and unsafe conditions or practices for corrective action

· Maintaining accurate records for items measurements, readings and issues.

· Conduct inventory and maintain inventory at proper level


· Perform duties as necessitated by employee absence of workload.

· Possess a strong commitment to and respect for Safety and Environmental issues requiring close attention to detail and processes.

· Must be able to work with others or alone without close supervision

· Must be able to work overtime as needed on a short notice

· Must be able to pass criminal background and drug test.


· Typical physical activities will be pushing, pulling, moving equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing

· Sit for long periods

· Use hand/eye coordination for detail work
